How To Unblock TvCatchUp.com Using HideIpVPN

TvCatchUp has just blocked several UK Internet Service Providers from accessing their site, including ISPs that offer VPN access. Thus, our servers got also blocked. We are sorry for any incovenience this situations caused to our users.

For our premium clients we have found a temporarely solution : we have activated a backup server from an ISP that is not blocked. We hope that this workaround will work until we find a permanent solution.

Here are the necessary info to be able to connect to the backup UK server:

PPTP Connection: follow the tutorials for PPTP setup and use uktv.hideipvpn.com as host.
OpenVPN connection: download the UKTV Config file from the here and place it in the same folder as it is described in the OpenVPN setup tutorial.

We are continually improving our service, including the free one. During the last days, we have moved usfree and ukfree to new, more powerfull servers. These will not only improved the connection speed for existing users, but will allows us to give away more free accounts. Stay tuned on our blog and twitter account to find out when free HideIpVPN accounts will be available.

Google Checkout is now available as HideIpVPN payment option

In order to come closer to you and fulfill your needs, we have implemented a new way to process your orders, using Google Checkout. This was added to the existing PayPal and option and it is available for all existing and future accounts.

More than that, from now on all the subscription process, starting from the moment you create your account is protected by SSL. Thus, your personal info is 100% safe while you work with HideIpVPN.

Regarding Plimus, this option is no longer available. Due to the high level of frauds we decided to temporarly suspend it.

We are planning to offer more payment options in the near future, but it would help us to let us know what you need. So …

Premium US3 Server Is Now Available

We have just replaced one of our servers with a new, better one. Of course, the news US3 server is able to unblock Hulu. We hope that it will not be blocked soon.

So, please give it a try and if you encounter any problems please open a ticket and let us know. The new server is available only for premium accounts.

Here are the necessary info to be able to connect to the new server:

PPTP Connection: follow the tutorials for PPTP setup and use us3.hideipvpn.com as host.
OpenVPN connection: download the US3 Config file from the Downloads area and place it in the same folder as it is described in the OpenVPN setup tutorial.
Proxy: use us3.hideipvpn.com as proxy address and 81 as the port. Then setup up your browser: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome or Safari.

If you are located in China or in another country that blocks our website and you connect via the IP address of the server you will need to check the new IP addresses: http://billing.hideipvpn.com/knowledgebase/2/List-of-IP-address.html. Those using OpenVPN make sure you use the proper config. Go to http://billing.hideipvpn.com/downloads.php (it requires login) and download OpenVPN config for China users.

HowTo: Nokia N900 HTTP Proxy Setup Tutorial

In order to bring more value to our clients we provide proxy connections to our servers. This way, our premium users are able to browse anonymously in simple and easy way.

This post shows how to setup the HideIpVPN proxy to work with all browsers on Nokia N900. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Connect to any Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G network.

2. Go to: Main Menu -> Settings -> Internet connections -> Connections

3. Select active Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G connection and press Edit.

4. Press: Next -> Next -> Next then press on Advanced button.

5. Under Proxies tab check “Use proxy”, in the same window, fill in the HTTP Proxy and the Port (uk.hideipvpn.com or us.hideipvpn.com or use IP address instead of hostname and the port 3129 or 8080 or 81) (take a look to the previous picture). and press Save button then press Finish then Done.

6. When you will try to access a site you will be promted for the username and password. Enter the same username and password you use to connect by VPN.

After the configuration is completed go to myiptest.com and check your new IP address. You can now browse anonymously using Nokia N900 browsers.

Important! Do not forget to uncheck “Use proxy”, after you are done with your activites under hidden ip.

HowTo: Nokia N900 (OS Maemo) OpenVPN Setup Tutorial

With latest update from Maemo and latest software and OpenVPN configs you’ll be able to connect to OpenVPN.

1. Go to http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/openvpn/ and install OpenVPN v2.1~rc20-3maemo3

This will install only OpenVPN software, if you are familiar with Linux you can use it from x-terminal line without GUI.

2. Install OpenVPN GUI: to install OpenVPN Applet v0.5.3-1 go to http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/openvpn-applet/ and press install.

3. Download OpenVPN config files from here. Extract hideipvpn.zip archive to “hideipvpn” folder on your PC/Mac and upload hideipvpn folder to your N900. Or download directly to your N900 if you have unzip software.

4. Open OpenVPN GUI and press: Manage connections -> New -> Configuration File

5. Find hideipvpn folder which you uploaded in step 3 and open configuration file for example “Hideipvpn-UK.ovpn”

This will complete all except Secret File and PKC12 file.

6. Press Secret File and find hideipvpn folder then open ta.key file and press Import button.

This will create new OpenVPN connection to UK servers.

7. You can now connect to the VPN

HideIpVPN vs Hulu: US2 Server Blocked

Hulu has blocked one of our servers again. Users connecting using us2.hideipvpn.com server got today the “Based on your IP address, we noticed you are trying to access Hulu through an anonymous proxy tool” message. We are sorry for any incovenience this caused to our users.

We are working hard to solve the problem and unblock Hulu. Thank you for your understanding!

In order to temporarely solve the problem, you can use one of the following servers: us1.hideipvpn.com or us3.hideipvpn.com.

Take a look to the settings described below.

Solution for PPTP & Proxy connections

All you have to do is to change the server from us2.hideipvpn.com to us1.hideipvpn.com or us3.hideipvpn.com. If you don’t know exactly how to do it you should create a new PPTP connection following the tutorials.

Solution for OpenVPN

You have to perform the following chnages in the OpenVPN config files:

1. Go to “C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config\hideipvpn” config directory.
2. Find “Hideipvpn-US.ovpn” file.
3. Copy/duplicate it to another file name ex: Hideipvpn-US3.ovpn
4. Edit new file with WordPad or Notepad
5. Find “remote us2.hideipvpn.com 443” and change to “remote us3.hideipvpn.com 443”
6. Save changes.
7. Go to OpenVPN and you’ll find new server to connect.
8. Use the same user/pass.

US1 Server Back To Unblock Hulu

New US Server Is Now Available For Premium Accounts

In order to provide better service and faster connections we have added a new server in US. The great news is that it can be used to unblock Hulu.

The server is still in beta. So, if you encounter any problems please open a ticket and let us know. At this time we are testing different hosting providers and if the existing servers do not work properly for you we will change the providers.
