Netflix will introduce User Profiles

We know that Netflix is very popular among our users. With that in mind we try to monitor what is going on around famous streaming service and bring you interesting news about it from time to time. Today we bring you some short news regarding famous Pirate Bay. It is well known torrent site all over the world and it is one of the most popular ones. #hashtags are now working with Facebook

Only yesterday, brand new, awesome innovation (this part should be read as sarcasm ;-) ) – #hashtags was introduced by #Facebook. If you are using Twitter, Instagram or other social networks “#tags” should be well known to you, as they are present in those mieda for quite some time. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept few basic information. As you know Facebook can be a real mine (as Google or Bing) for information. However as we are sharing them mostly with close friends (not all posts are made public) it might be hard to search for some specific news, categories, etc. Especially now, since a lot of profiles (like ours) belong to companies that are contacting its customers via social media. #tags are sort of keywords that should help you locate desired content.

We think it will be best to present idea with an example. As you know, with our VPN servers you can easily unlock Facebook (access to FB) anywhere (work, school, certain countries that do not allow for direct access to this media). This information might be quite interesting to your friends. But it will be quite difficult to find on your profile after few months. We make comments on our profiles at least few times per day – this means that without such key words (or metadata) it is hard to dig through lots and lots of comments. If in your future comments, you will use #tags it will be easier for you and for your friends to find them (and all the information related to them).

Not only that. If you will use #tags as #VPN, #SmartDNS, #Netflixunlock, #anonymity, etc… You will be able to see what you, your friends or other people/companies (public posts of course) wrote about it.

How to: watch BBC iPlayer on Windows Phone 8 with SmartDNS

In this tutorial we will tell you, how you can watch BBC iPlayer on your Windows Phone 8 device through our new SmartDNS service.

First, you need to setup HideIPVPN Smart DNS servers on your home router. Detailed tutorials of “How to” do it can be found in this links: SmartDNS TP-Link setup and SmartDNS D-Link setup. 1. Go to “Settings”.

2. Choose “Language + region”.

3. Change “Country/Region” to United Kingdom and click “Restart phone”.

6. Choose “BBC iPlayer” application from the list.

7. Once selected, choose to install “BBC iPlayer” application.

8. When installed, you should see “BBC iPlayer” in your applications.

If you thought until now that VPN or rather need for VPN is a song of the future for an average Joe, we are sorry to tell you, you are wrong. Just today a story hit the news pages (read more at The Washington Post or Guardian UK) that might be shocking to you. Somehow it just confirms what we have been suspecting for quite some time. We are all spied on! Let’s just cut to the chase. Biggest internet operating companies in US, whose services are used daily by millions of people around the world gave NSA (National Security Agency) and FBI free and direct access to all its customers data. Microsoft, Google, Yahoo,Apple, Skype, Facebook, Dropbox (mentioned by some sources as well), AOL, YouTube (and we suspect true list is much longer) are listed in the document as companies that allowed US government agencies to access data they collected. Companies themselves are denying any knowledge of this situation but existence of PRISM secret program has been (in a way) confirmed by one of US officials: In a statement issue late Thursday, Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper said “information collected under this program is among the most important and valuable foreign intelligence information we collect, and is used to protect our nation from a wide variety of threats. The unauthorized disclosure of information about this important and entirely legal program is reprehensible and risks important protections for the security of Americans.”

What it reads is: PRISM exists, but we are not spying on US citizens (Want to bet???), we are spying on all others. So, your Skype calls, search queries, surfing history, e-mails, anything that leaves a trace on a server is now easily accessible for US government. And if you think that government in your country is not trying secretly to squeeze out as much data as it can from your ISP – we are afraid you are wrong, again.

How can VPN help in this mess? We need to be honest and clear. Nor we, nor any other VPN provider can prevent 100% of your data being stored and recognized. You have to use e-mail, you have to browse web and sooner or later you will get to page/link/service that is connected to a big server in US. But because VPN encrypts you traffic and hides your real IP address you can at least hide some of your activities in the web. Your search queries via Google or BING will still be visible but with VPN connection on, it will be impossible to tie them to you.

There is no perfect solution but as we always say, it is better to do all you can to insure your internet activities than later being sorry.

Not that long ago we have introduced refreshed and updated Windows VPN application. It came together with brand new Mac OSX application for VPN. As today we will encourage you to download it with new type of tutorial, it is also good occasion to emphasize on one of its more useful features.

We know, that many of you prefer YouTube and videos to learn stuff, from written tutorials. Because of that we have prepared a video tutorial that will guide you through the setup process. We hope to hear your comment on this. If you like it, if it is popular we will try to prepare more such materials if future.

Above we have told you that we would like to discuss in a bit more detail one of its features. Option we have in mind is called App Killer.

Live F1 coverage by BBC in 2013

If you remember our last post about F1, you will recall that we have told you about all European races being shown live by BBC. This year (as we have just learned) this is not the case. In this post we will bring you full schedule of F1 GP’s that you can watch on-line through our awesome UK VPN service and/or UK SmartDNS. Smart DNS user IP update tutorial

In order to use HideIPVPN Smart DNS your IP address has to be registered/updated in our data base.

How to update user’s IP for Smart DNS ?

1. Log in to Client Area at www.hideipvpn.com

2. Select your VPN or Smart DNS package.

3. Click “Update IP Address” button – you are done.

3.1 You can also update you IP quickly via IP update URL. This way you do not have to log in to “Client area”. Simply copy link to your browser favorites – every time you load this URL into your browser your IP address will be updated.

Please do not share this link – it is customer unique. Each HideIPVPN user has a different link of this kind. Only one IP address can be active per user. If you give it away you may loose access to SmartDNS service.

4. Now you need to enter new DNS server address to your PC/device (this has to be done only once).
