“Every household in Britain connected to the Internet will be obliged to declare whether they want to maintain access to online pornography, David Cameron will announce on Monday.” (source) Is VPN essential already in Britain? We don’t know how you feel about it, but in our opinion it is our private thing if we wish to watch online porn or not. And declaring something like that to government official (probably via ISP) is not something we would look forward.
Now, let us be clear. We ourselves don’t like the idea of children watching pornography and other materials that should be age restricted. However we feel that censorship, control over what citizens are doing and implementations of even new restrictions is not the way. It is family and parents that are responsible for children. At the same time as we are responsible for our own decisions.
We all have right to freedom and privacy for as long as we are not braking the law. At the same time law has to be reasonable. Can you imagine to actually declare something like watching porn, only to find out that such data base has been breached? That anyone (your future employer) has access to it? Not to mention about fact that independent court is the only organisation that should be allowed to decide about blocking access to site or shutting it down.
And how do you feel knowing, that even today your ISP knows every singe step you take in the internet?
If you have just felt a bit unease we strongly recommend you considering using VPN technology on daily basis. All information you exchange with web will be encrypted, your privacy secured, real IP address hidden and you will get some additional benefits like accessing geo-restricted content from Hulu, crackle, Netflix US both via VPN and SmartDNS.
