Windows 10 users that recently upgraded to latest version of Windows RS4 build 1803 (so called Spring Update), may have encountered VPN connection issues. We were aware of the problem. We also did a complete check-up of our free VPN software for Windows to make sure we are not to blame.
The reported VPN connection issues affected PPTP, SSTP, L2TP and IKEv2 protocols, while OpenVPN protocol was fine. Those of you wishing to know more details about the reported problem can check the f5.com report.
Yes. As many other providers and people, we’ve investigated and reported the problem. We were unable to fix the issue due the fact that it is related only to the Windows itself. Microsoft has prepared a special update to solve this VPN problem – May 8, 2018—KB4103721 (OS Build 17134.48). For more details about the update follow this link. If you do face VPN issues while running the latest version of Windows 10, please make sure you have all the latest updates.
As you already know this issue affected PPTP, SSTP, L2TP and IKEv2 protocols. Our software might have changed your preferred protocol to OpenVPN so you could use VPN and surf the web anonymously. If one of your preferred protocols is PPTP, SSTP, L2TP or IKEv2, after installation of the Windows update, please make sure to change it in HideIPVPN Software settings.
